This year, in conjunction with the dinner, LIPTA conducted a special raffle to raise money for the Charlie's Champions Foundation. Charlie is the eight year old son of John and Tara Schmitt who, two years ago, was diagnosed with leukemia. I am happy to be able to report that Charlie is in solid remission. John gave an emotional talk on the decisions that the family has had to make and how they came to choose the Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop Memorial Hospital and the excellent care that Charlie has received there. 100% of all monies raised by the Charlie's Champions Foundation goes directly to the Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop Memorial Hospital. Thank you for all your generous donations that raised over $5,000.00 for this very worthy cause.
